Dads of the Little Owl Pre-School turn out to raise funds

The University's Little Owl Pre-School held a fundraising event on campus recently. A five-a-side football match took place between the dads of the pre-schoolers and members of the local BP garage.
In spite of the cold weather, many people turned out on the chilly Sunday morning to cheer the players on, including the Vice-Chancellor Sir David Bell, who gave up his time to show support and award the trophies after the match.
Parent and organiser of the event, Michael Alban said; ‘Even with freezing cold conditions, we had a fantastic match with brilliant support from everyone. It was a very friendly and fun game. Both teams played really well and with great spirit, helping us to raise funds for the pre-school.
‘I'd like to personally thank Sir David Bell for coming along and presenting the trophies, Reverend Mark Laynesmith from the University of Reading Chaplaincy for providing everyone with a cup a tea and keeping us warm, Spencer York for providing the kit and a gazebo for sheltering people from the cold winds, and Shaheen Rashid and her husband for helping throughout the day.
'A massive thank you to Denholm Badcock and his local BP team plus the dads of the Little Owl Pre-School for an enjoyable game, and finally a huge thank you to all the parents and children who braved the cold to cheer us on to a 20-10 win!'
