'The system has been a huge help in managing the bookings for my events, allowing me to concentrate on the big picture.'
The University's online store which allows payments for goods and services to be taken easily and securely is now even easier to use.
The online store is a free service available to all areas of the University. It works in the same way as other online shops, and can be used to take payments for items as well as places at conferences and events.
The system is straightforward to use and helps ensure that transactions are made securely. Once you have provided details of your item or event by filling in a form and submitting to the Ecommerce team, you will be provided with a dedicated link that you can send to customers or attendees for them to complete their payment.
Each time a payment is received you will receive an automated email confirming the customer's details, allowing you to manage your event efficiently or dispatch your product. You can also use it for free events with limited places in order to help track the number of people attending.
Colette Elson, the University's Ecommerce Systems Manager, who has been working on the development of the store, said: "The University is required to meet the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard when accepting card payments, and failure to do so can incur penalties such as losing the ability to process card transactions altogether. The online store is a way of making sure we are meeting these standards and not putting our customers' data at risk. The online store is also a very useful tool for staff here at the University as it significantly reduces the need for basic administrative tasks."
According to Karen Stanbridge, Sustainable Travel Coordinator, who has used the service said: "The online store has made taking payments and registering participants for our university bicycle maintenance courses extremely easy. Once you've got everything set up you can just email people the link, or put it on your website and then it's all done for you. You get an email alert with each booking and you can limit the number of each product or place sold. Very straightforward."
Sarah Hood from the Henley Business School said: "The system has been a huge help in managing the bookings for my events, allowing me to concentrate on the big picture."
