New Professor of Literacy and Multilingualism

Professor Jason Rothman

The University is delighted to welcome Professor Jason Rothman to the position of Chair in Literacy and Multilingualism, School of Psychology and Clinical Language Science. 

Professor Rothman obtained his PhD from the University of California, Los Angeles  in 2005. His research programme investigates language acquisition in children and adults, with an emphasis on bilingual and multilingual acquisition of syntax and semantics.

One overarching goal of his research is to better understand the interfaces of linguistic development, mental representation and cognition.

From 2005-2010, Professor Rothman taught at the University of Iowa where he co-directed the University of Iowa Second Language Acquisition Lab.

He is the executive director of the international journal Linguistic Approaches to Bilingualism and editor of the book series Issues in Hispanic and Lusophone Linguistics.

Professor Rothman is one of the University's Academic Investment posts.
