New NHS health network launched to link health care with research
Thursday, 30 May 2013
The University of Reading has become a partner in the newly designated Oxford Academic Health Science Network (OxAHSN).
OxAHSN is one of 15 new networks set up by NHS England to link healthcare with academia, research and businesses such as the life-science industries. OAHSN covers Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Milton Keynes, Berkshire and Bedfordshire.
Professor Richard Ellis, Dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences, is the University's representative on the new network. "The establishment of the Oxford AHSN across the Thames Valley and the South Midlands region will provide clear routes for the outputs from our health-related research across all four faculties, bringing direct patient benefit through closer working with industry and the many NHS bodies in the region."
The OxAHSN is hosted by the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust with their Chief Executive, Sir Jonathan Michael holding the interim Chief Executives position for the OxAHSN.
