Come and enjoy the Whiteknights Studio Trail this weekend
Tuesday, 11 June 2013
This year the Whiteknights Studio Trail will take place on the weekend of 15 and 16 June. The Studio Trail is a walking tour of 36 artists' studios in 22 venues around the University area.
Just some of the art work being exhibited this year will be etching, screen-printing and printmaking, photography, textiles, painting, beadwork, glass and hand-crafted furniture. There will be demonstrations and all work will be for sale.
Some of the University's own artists will be displaying their work, with the Department of Art hosting a dynamic exhibition of art by their undergraduate and postgraduate students. Hilary James, a graduate of the University, professional musician and painter, will also be displaying her work at the University's Museum of English Rural Life (MERL).
Artist in residence at the Harris Garden, Jenny Halstead will also be exhibiting and selling her work.
This year students from the University's Fine Art department will accompany the trail, and all of the artists will be available to discuss the work on display. Refreshments will be served at Progress Theatre, Redlands School and MERL.
All venues will be open from 11am to 6pm on both days. Free parking will be provided by the University in Car Park 7, and various bus routes ( 9, 19, 20, 20a, 21, 144) will take you to the centre of the trail.
The Trail is suitable for all ages and entry is free, so bring all of your friends and family!
