Professor Tiffin is researching into one of the most significant public health challenges of the twenty first century
The University was awarded over £1.5 million in research grants and contracts in June.
The largest award went to Professor Richard Tiffin from Agriculture, Policy and Development who received £519,430 from the Economic and Social Research Council for research that will look into discovering more about the choices that people make about the food they eat.
It is increasingly recognised that diet-related chronic disease represents one of the most significant public health challenges of the twenty first century.
Since consumers are not all the same, and come from different backgrounds with different dietary preferences and requirements, it is increasingly important that we understand how and why people make choices about their food to understand how best to tackle this challenge.
This research, entitled 'Cognitive biases and behavioural segmentation in food demand', will provide insights into the design of dietary interventions relevant for different groups of consumers in the future.
