Vice-Chancellor's address to Senate - October 2013

V-C Sir David Bell

Vice-Chancellor, Sir David Bell gave his address to senate on 16 October 2013. The V-C provided members of Senate with an update on several developments including: the University strategy; student recruitment; teaching and learning; research; MOOCs and our international profile.

The Senate is one of the three main bodies that deliver the governance of the University. Reporting to the Council and meeting at least four times a year, the Senate advises on areas such as student entry, assessment and awards. With around 100 members, the Senate comprises Deans, Heads and selected representatives of Schools, as well as staff and students.

All current members of staff are welcome to hear the Vice-Chancellor outline the new University Strategy at his talks to staff this term:

  • Monday 28 October 1-2pm (Palmer G10, Whiteknights)
  • Tuesday 29 October 1-2pm (Madejski lecture theatre, Whiteknights)
  • Tuesday 12 November 10-11am (National Grid room, Greenlands)
  • Friday 15 November 1-2pm (LO22 G01, London Road)
