The School of Real Estate and Planning at the university is hosting the second in its series of public lectures on Planning Futures on Monday 4 November.

The lecture - A New Vision for Planning - there must be a better way? - will be given by Leonora Rozee OBE MRTPI former Deputy Chief Executive of the Planning Inspectorate who was awarded the OBE for services to planning reform.

"The planning system in England is a mess! There are 6 pieces of primary legislation governing the planning process and a further 9 pieces of related legislation. All but one of these statutes date from 1990 onwards with 6 gaining Royal Assent in the last 9 years creating a bewildering array of statutes," Ms Rozee said.

"We cannot create a stable and creative economy, a fair and healthy society and a culturally and ecologically diverse and attractive environment without long term visionary planning which operates within a flexible hierarchical framework that can accommodate change and the unexpected whilst providing sufficient certainty to investors at all levels. So there must be a better way."

This event is once again kindly sponsored by Barton Willmore. Drinks and refreshments will be provided after the lecture to allow for further networking and discussion.

All are welcome to attend the lecture which is FREE but booking is required: event booking form
