New scholarships for Reading undergraduates staying on for Master's study
Wednesday, 20 November 2013
Five scholarships, each worth over £10,000, will be available
A new scholarship scheme designed to support Reading undergraduates who wish to stay on to pursue a Master's degree will be available for the first time this year.
Five scholarships, each worth over £10,000, will be available for candidates applying before the deadline of 21 March 2014 and starting a Master's programme in 2014.
The scheme is designed primarily for current finalists thinking of progressing to a Master's, though applications can also be considered from Reading graduates from the last two years.
It complements the alumni discount for any University of Reading graduate (from any year) wishing to study for a Master's degree at Reading. The discount is worth 10% of the course fee up to a maximum of £1,000.
The two initiatives mark a concerted attempt by the University to support those students who wish to continue to postgraduate study, but who may be deterred from doing so because of financial constraints.
The scholarships are available to UK and EU students only. International students can apply for Postgraduate Taught Country Scholarships (worth up to £10,000).
The scholarships contribute towards the costs of tuition fees for MA/MSc programmes up to the value of the University's standard PGT (postgraduate taught) fee, currently £5,500. In addition, they provide a contribution towards living costs of £5,000.
Students should apply for the programme of their choice through the University's online application system
