Numbers is part of a new six-book series to help international students achieve academic success at college or university. It is designed to support students who are studying, or preparing to study, at an English-speaking institution.
The book is co-authored by an English language specialist (Louis Rogers) and a statistician (Dawn Willoughby). It aims to teach students how to use numbers and language effectively in their academic work.
Designed to be used as a self-study text, it is intended for students on pre-sessional or foundation courses as well as for first year undergraduates. Each chapter includes a self-evaluation quiz, worked examples, practice exercises with solutions, tips and glossary definitions to guide the student through the topic presented.
Numbers helps students to develop the skills they need for planning and carrying out a research project, including collecting data, applying statistical techniques, describing results and presenting information.
