Pay Award 2013

Following on from the strike action on Thursday 31 October 2013 the trades unions continue to be in dispute with regard to the 2013 pay award, and have announced a further day of strike action on 3 December 2013.

At Reading 87 members of UCU and UNITE participated in the strike action on 31 October. As before, I will be writing after the day of action to ask colleagues to declare if they took strike action.

It remains disappointing that the national pay bargaining process has failed to reach a satisfactory conclusion. With this in mind the University has decided to action the proposed 1% pay uplift on account. All staff for whom the national pay award applies will receive the uplift, backdated as appropriate to 1 August 2013, with their December salary on Friday 20 December 2013.
