Congratulations to Dr John Baum

Dr John Baum, Teaching Technician in the Department of Chemistry has been awarded the Royal Society of Chemistry Technician of the Year award for 2013.
Dr Baum was given the award for his unfailing commitment to supporting and developing the teaching of practical chemistry.
Dr Elizabeth Page, Head of Chemistry said; "John Baum shows unfailing commitment, innovation and initiative in supporting the teaching of practical chemistry. He has inspired many cohorts of undergraduates, school pupils and chemistry teachers through activities that are exciting and stimulating and grounded in sound science.
Vice Chancellor, Sir David Bell said; "Congratulations to John on this award. It is a credit to the University that his contribution to the teaching of chemistry here has been recognised by the Royal Society of Chemistry."
Chemists from the University of Reading are no strangers to accolades from the Royal Society of Chemistry. In the last four years Reading chemists have won the esteemed Education Award which recognises a major high level contribution to education in the chemical sciences, over a sustained period of time:
The School Teacher Award was awarded to Dr David Wright in 2012, An Education Award to Dr Elizabeth Page in 2010 and to Dr John Oversby in 2011.
