A message from Professor Tony Downes - Provost, University of Reading Malaysia:

The Malaysia project is pressing ahead at full speed: we are already teaching the Foundation for Business course, and in September 2014 we will admit the first cohort of BSc students onto the programme in Finance and Business Management.

In 2015 we will take possession of the new building and launch almost the full suite of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes (with just a few to follow in 2016).

As such, we need staff to help us deliver these programmes - initially in leadership roles, but others are likely to follow. Our hope is to have staff on secondment from Reading to provide leadership in the early years of the University of Reading Malaysia, and we shall be recruiting in the next two months for people to start in September/October 2014.

Academic services staff

We wish to appoint a Head of Student and Academic Services to build, train and lead the team of administrative and support staff. This secondment is expected to be for a minimum of two years.

Academic staff

We wish to appoint a Head of Section in each of the following disciplines:

  • Construction Management and Engineering
  • Henley Business School
  • Law
  • Pharmacy
  • Psychology

These posts are akin to Head of a small Department, and offer an opportunity to gain leadership experience and help form the future of the University of Reading Malaysia.

Secondments to Malaysia are for a period of up to five years for academic staff (and would normally be for a minimum of two years). All secondments involve an attractive financial ‘package' which includes an uplift on basic salary, a housing allowance and (where relevant) help with school fees.
