Improving Wi-Fi on our campuses
Friday, 07 February 2014
A £1 million project to improve Wi-Fi services across our campuses is well underway, with work in the Library, HumSS building, Henley Business School at Greenlands and Whiteknights House already completed.
The project is one of six priorities outlined by the Technology Enhanced Learning Strategy Group to open up new and exciting opportunities to enhance the ways we deliver teaching and learning at Reading, as well as to encourage students to develop skills that will enhance their employability.
Centrally managed Wi-Fi services will cover all buildings on the Whiteknights campus, and services will be renewed and extended at Greenlands and London Road - this internal work is running ahead of schedule and is expected to be completed by May 2014. Some outside areas will also benefit from Wi-Fi coverage.
The status of the project, including projected installation dates for all buildings, can be found here: http://wifi.reading.ac.uk/zones/extension.html.
Staff and students should use the Eduroam network to access the Wi-Fi network both at the University and at thousands of other organisations worldwide. Visitors can access the Internet at the University by using the UoR-Guest network.
