Three members of the ISLI MOOC team: Sebastian Watkins, Steve Thomas, Anne Vicary

Professor Gavin Brooks, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Teaching and Learning, is delighted to announce the three recipients of the 2014 University Collaborative Awards for Outstanding Contributions to Teaching and Learning.

This is a highly competitive scheme that recognises and rewards select groups of staff that have made significant and ongoing contributions to the student learning experience and also who have demonstrated an integrated team approach to enhance teaching and learning.  

Ten applications were submitted for 2014 and the awards panel were pleased with the very high standard of proposals this year.

Three teams have been selected for a 2014 University Collaborative Award:

From the International Study & Language Institute (ISLI) for their development of a massive open online course (MOOC) entitled: ‘A beginner's guide to writing in English for university study'

  • Mr Steve Thomas
  • Mr Luke Micallef
  • Mrs Anne Vicary

From the University Library for their development of innovative self-help materials on essay writing and referencing:

  • Mrs Helen Hathaway
  • Dr Michelle Reid
  • Mrs Sonia Hood
  • Dr Kim Shahabudin

From the Henley Business School for their ‘Pathways to Property' initiative to widen access to the property sector:

  • Miss Bonnie Edwards
  • Professor Peter Wyatt
  • Mrs Cathy Hughes
  • Mrs Jane Symmons
  • Mrs Rachel Lad
  • Mrs Nicole Gillham

Each team will receive an award of £3,000.  An awards ceremony is expected to take place later in the year to recognise and celebrate the winners' achievements formally.
