Heartbleed: no need to change passwords

Friday, 11 April 2014

IT Services have advised University staff there is no need to change University passwords as a result of a recent security vulnerability on some websites.

Some media coverage of the 'Heartbleed' problem has suggested that users of websites immediately change all their passwords to avoid hackers gaining access to personal information. However, Reading ITS staff say most University accounts will not be affected.

For more information, visit the ITS news website or contact ITS for help or advice.
