The University of Reading welcomed Their Royal Highnesses The Earl and Countess of Wessex to our Whiteknights campus this week.

The visit formed part of a wider tour of the county during which the Royal couple experienced ‘the best of Berkshire'. Their visit to the University focused on our Department of Meteorology which, last year, was one of just 12 academic departments from institutions around the UK to receive a Regius Professorship, awarded by Her Majesty The Queen to mark her Diamond Jubilee.

The programme for the visit included lunch, hosted by the Vice-Chancellor, followed by a number of activities led by colleagues from the Department of Meteorology included a weather and climate discussion, seeing students demonstrating green screen weather forecasting and the launch of a weather balloon.
