University to show support for IDAHOT - Friday 16 May

Saturday 17 May marks International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (IDAHOT) and the University of Reading, as a new member of the Stonewall Diversity Champion's programme, is proud to be flying the rainbow flag in support of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender equality.

The flag will be raised between the Library and Whiteknights House - all are invited to gather by the flagpole at 12noon on Friday 16 May.

The University is seeking to continue the legacy of its former Vice-Chancellor, Lord Wolfenden, by promoting diversity and tolerance in its research, teaching, and support for all who work and study here. 

Ruth Busby, Deputy Director of Human Resources said: "Recognising the impact of homophobia and transphobia and taking action to stop it is an important part of this.  That is why we are supportive of Stonewall's ‘no bystanders' campaign raising awareness of the challenges that many individuals continue to face."
