Senior Management team for 2014-15
Friday, 01 August 2014
The University is pleased to welcome a number of colleagues from outside and within the University to new roles in the senior leadership team.
The University Executive Board (UEB) sees several changes:
There are two new Pro-Vice-Chancellors: Vincenzo (known as Enzo) Raimo joins the University from the University of Nottingham, and Professor Robert Van de Noort joins us from the University of Exeter.
A Reading graduate, Enzo Raimo has been Director of the International Office at the University of Nottingham for the past eight years. His new role as Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagement) will involve leading Reading's global strategy, including developing new markets; building academic and business partnerships overseas; and raising the University's profile internationally.
An archaeologist by profession, Robert Van de Noort has been the Dean of the College of Social Sciences and International Studies at the University of Exeter since 2011. In his new role as Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic Planning and Resource), Robert will oversee all academic resource planning at Reading - including staff deployment; the overall course programme; and, shaping the capital investment programme in teaching and research facilities.
Professor Steven Mithen, formerly Pro-Vice-Chancellor (International and External Engagement), becomes Deputy Vice-Chancellor following Professor Tony Downes' move to Malaysia as Provost and Chief Executive Officer of University of Reading Malaysia.
Dr Richard Messer, previously Head of the University Administration, takes on the new role of Chief Strategy Officer and University Secretary.
In addition to the Vice-Chancellor, Sir David Bell, the other members of UEB who will continue in post from last year are: Professor Gavin Brooks, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Teaching and Learning), and David Savage, Chief Operating Officer.
