Staff from academic departments and directorates are now invited to submit applications for research projects that undergraduates could get involved in as part of this year's Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme (UROP).

Now in its tenth year, UROP provides undergraduates with an opportunity to gain experience of research through a paid six-week project in the summer vacation.  Staff gain a fresh perspective on their research and the opportunity to develop a promising candidate for postgraduate research.

UROP has supported over 350 undergraduate research projects since 2006. This year two Reading students presented their research to MPs and ministers at a ‘Posters in Parliament' event with a number representing Reading at the annual British Conference of Undergraduate Research in April.

UROP Showcase event

Members of staff interested in finding out more can attend the UROP showcase poster event where research students from summer 2014 will present their work on Wednesday 19th November at 3pm in Henley Business School, Whiteknights.

Staff information session

Help is also available for members of staff who are new to UROP with an information session over lunch on Wednesday 5th November.  Staff can book onto the session on the Employee Self-Service Learning web pages. Or for advice on applications or information on the scheme in general please e-mail urop@reading.ac.uk

The deadline for applications is Friday 19th December 2014.  For more info on UROP www.reading.ac.uk/urop.
