Signing Talent - Celebrating Theatre Arts, Education and Deaf Studies B.A

Tuesday, 21 October 2014

TAEDS performance

A sense of belonging is the hall-mark of the Theatre Arts, Education and Deaf Studies B.A., where alumni, students and staff shared their considerable dramatic talents at a sociable networking celebration.

‘The performances were a fantastic combination of humour, storytelling and thought-provoking messages. I thoroughly enjoyed myself, and cannot wait for the next event where I can come back as an alumni!' Alice Taylor, Year 2 student.

London Road is home to this internationally unique degree, where the TAEDS community integrates deaf and hearing, through British Sign Language (BSL) and Sign Theatre. Transition mentoring and work placements foster transferable skills, encouraging student engagement and accounting for TAEDS' 95% employability rate.

To find out more about TAEDS, and its role in Widening Participation, see http://www.reading.ac.uk/education/ug/ioe-BATheatreEducationDeafStudies.aspx. Email  taeds@reading.ac.uk   to attend a free BSL staff taster session on Tuesday 17th February, Enhancement Week, or to watch a student theatre production on 7th/13th May.
