Renew your parking permit for 2015

Tuesday, 18 November 2014

car parking permits

Remember to renew your car parking permit online by Friday 5 December at http://www.reading.ac.uk/parking/staff/park-staff-parking.aspx. You can save money by renewing your permit through Parking+ salary exchange scheme and taking advantage of tax and National Insurance savings.

For example:

  • If you are a Grade 4 full-time employee, the charge for an annual parking permit is £96 (£8 per month). If you pay for your permit through Parking+ and you pay tax at the Basic Rate (20%), your annual tax and NICs saving would be around £29.99. Therefore, the annual cost of your parking permit will reduce to £66.62 (£5.50 per month).
  • If you are a Grade 6 full-time employee, the charge for an annual parking permit is £120 (£10 per month). If you join the Scheme and you pay tax at the Basic Rate (20%), your annual tax and NIC savings would be around £36.72. Therefore, the annual cost of your parking permit will be around £83.28 (£6.94 per month).

Provided you have completed the renewal process before 5 December 2014 you will receive a parking permit for use at your designated car park and your participation in the Scheme will start from January's payroll.

Cars not displaying a valid parking permit, or not parking in designated spaces, will receive a warning, and be liable for a £75 fine for further offences. Misuse of disabled bays incurs a £75 fine with no warning.

For further information about the schedule of charges and the terms and conditions for parking on campus please go to http://www.reading.ac.uk/parking/staff/park-staff-parking.aspx.
