Julia Boorman Award for disabled students
Friday, 21 November 2014
We are delighted to announce the introduction of the Julia Boorman Award. This has been provided as a result of a bequest to the University by Dr. Julia Boorman, formerly a Senior Lecturer in Education and Sub-Dean of the Faculty of Education and Community Studies.
The Award intends to support disabled students from specific study areas with additional costs associated with undertaking travel abroad in connection with their programme of study. These costs could include, for example, accommodation, general living or study costs, and fees. It is expected that the majority of applicants will be intending to undertake a course of study or work at an overseas university or organisation, but awards are not restricted to such activity.
This award does not have to be repaid and can be used towards any expenses incurred in relation to the above specification.
In order to apply for The Julia Boorman Award students must:
- be recognised as having a disability that fits within the University of Reading's definition; and
- be currently enrolled on a full-time or part-time undergraduate course involving Theatre Arts or History (in the broadest sense); and
- be undertaking travel/study/work abroad that is relevant to their degree programme.
We are very grateful for the opportunity to offer an award such as this and would be grateful if you could pass the attached information on to relevant staff/students. The information can also be referenced through this link: The Julia Boorman Award.
