Employee Self Service screen shot

As of today, Employee Self Service is available from anywhere (not just on campus) and can be accessed using your computer, tablet or smartphone.  This means that you are now able to update your personal details on your HR record, to access payroll information such as payslips and P60s or to book and log training events at any time, and from anywhere.   You can check your record at any time by logging in to Employee Self Service and by doing this, it helps us to ensure that your details are accurate, up-to-date and complete.   Employee Self Service is available through the following supported web browsers: For Windows operating systems Internet Explorer 9+, Mozilla FireFox 33+ or Google Chrome 38+ and for Apple Macintosh Safari 7+ is supported.  It is also available from mobile devices using Android 4+, Apple IOS 7+ and Blackberry OS 6+. (Other browsers may work but this cannot be guaranteed.)

Updating Personal details

While using Employee Self Service you can check the record of your ‘sensitive' personal details - these are your protected characteristics such as ethnic origin, sexual orientation and whether you consider yourself to be disabled. The University has an obligation to record such data, and this supports our strong commitment to diversity.  The data collected is used anonymously as part of a number of annual data returns to external bodies such as HESA and the Office for National Statistics. When recording this information, you can decide not to declare as an option, which is more helpful to us than a nil return.

You may also wish to check your recorded address details, telephone numbers, emergency contacts and next of kin information.

Training and Qualifications

You may have already used the ‘Learning' section of Employee Self Service to book places on training courses.  You can use this section to add a record of your qualifications, and, use the ‘Personal Learning Account' section to provide details of any external training courses you have attended. This is a valuable opportunity to keep your continuing professional development record up to date.

Payslips and P60s

You can access copies of your payslip through Employee Self Service.   If you were paid by the University before April 2014, you can also access your P60s there too.  You can email them to yourself for safe keeping or print copies.  You can also configure the system to send you a copy of your payslip by email each month.

If you need assistance

You can update much of your HR record directly through Employee Self Service.  There are, however, some details which make up your personal record, such as marital status and nationality, which you can view but not directly update.  If any of this information is out-of-date, or incorrect, please contact the HR Operations team (hroperations@reading.ac.uk) for further advice and assistance.
