Professor Geoff Wadge

It has just been announced by the Geological Society that Professor Geoff Wadge (Department of Meteorology, and a member of the NERC Centre for the Observation and Modelling of Earthquakes, Volcanoes and Tectonics) is to receive the Murchison Medal of the Geological Society for 2015, to be awarded at its President’s Day on 3 June.

The Murchison Medal is awarded annually to a candidate who has made a significant contribution to geological science by means of a substantial body of research, in particular for contributions to 'hard' rock studies. Professor Wadge is being recognised for his contributions to geology and remote sensing, including research into volcanology, Caribbean tectonics, and volcanic hazards and risk assessment. More detail on Professor Wadge's award and the Murchison Medal is given on the Geological Society website.
