Public Lecture Series: The weather at war
Wednesday, 11 March 2015
The University's flagship Public Lecture Series for 2014/2015 draws to a close next week with Dr Andrew Charlton Perez's (Department of Meteorology) lecture: The weather at war on Wednesday 18 March.
This year's lecture series has been the most popular yet; we've had a record number of people attend each talk and watching the trailers online. You can see the entire programme and watch the trailers link
Our Public Lecture Series showcases research highlights from across the University. Established over forty years ago, these popular lectures are given by Reading academics eminent in their field and cover a wide range of topical subjects.
In his lecture, Dr Charlton Perez will explore the science behind the weather forecasts that were essential to the success of the historic D-Day landings of the Second World War. The Palmer Building foyer will be transformed into a wartime weather station, where you can view replica weather maps, charts and observations before the lecture.
We are delighted that this lecture is part of our British Science Week programme of events.
