Volunteers

Students and residents at last year's Reading Rescue clean up

University of Reading students are joining forces with local residents on Saturday 28 March as part of the annual Reading-wide RESCUE Day. Reading RESCUE (Rivers & Environmental Spaces Clean Up Event) is a major annual spring clean event that takes place across the town, in association with Reading Borough Council and other Reading organisations.

University of Reading students will join Redlands GLOBE (Go Local On a Better Environment) on the annual clean up and litter pick meeting at the advertising hoarding at the junction of Addington and Erleigh Roads at 10:30 am.

This opportunity is open to everyone in the community including local staff. If you would like to do your bit, check out this and the other Reading Rescue volunteering opportunities between Thursday 26 and Sunday 29 March.

The University has a huge impact on the local community. It brings economic, educational, cultural, leisure and social benefits to the area and every year many students engage positively with the community by volunteering for a wide range of organisations and charities.

Community Relations Manager, Ann Westgarth's main role is to be the University's point of contact for the community. She identifies and implements many actions to enhance community engagement. She said; ‘It is great to see students joining local residents with the clean-up".
