University Teaching Fellowship Scheme (UTFS)
The University of Reading Teaching Fellowship is a prestigious award conferred to an individual who has demonstrated individual excellence and contributed to the development and/or support of teaching and learning within the University. The Fellowship is designed to support staff to further develop in this area.
The expectation is that applicants for the UTFS should be recognised at Descriptor 2 (or its equivalent) of the UKPSF (Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, HEA, or equivalent) and normally should be working towards Descriptor 3 (Senior Fellow of the Academy). Guidance for staff on the HESA codes for teaching qualifications is available on our webpages.
The UTFS T&L Showcase on Wednesday 25 March 13.00-14.00, Palmer 103. Come along to hear from some of our current University Teaching Fellows to find out why they applied to the scheme and what they've gained from being a UTF. No booking required.
A new session to support staff in drafting their UTFS applications will take place on Thursday 26 March 13.00-14.00. Book your place.

National Teaching Fellowship (NTF) Expression of Interest Scheme
The purpose of the HEA's National Teaching Fellowship Scheme (NTFS) is to: raise the profile of learning and teaching, recognise and celebrate individuals who make an outstanding impact on the student learning experience, have a strong external teaching and learning profile and provide a national focus for institutional teaching and learning schemes.
Up to 55 awards of £10,000 are made by the HEA each year. The award is intended for Fellows' professional development in teaching and learning or aspects of pedagogy.
The University has been very successful in the NTFS, with nine Fellowships awarded to Reading staff since 2002. We are now seeking up to three nominees to take forward to the HEA National Teaching Fellowship Scheme. NTFS nominees will normally be recognised at D3 (Senior Fellow of the HEA). Guidance for staff on the HESA codes for teaching qualifications is available on our web pages.
