Message from John Brady - Professional and Administrative Services (PAS) Review
Wednesday, 01 April 2015
I wanted to provide a brief update on progress with PAS before we finish for a welcome break at Easter.
The University's Voluntary Redundancy scheme, which we launched in December last year, closed for formal requests at the end of February. We received more than 100 requests to be considered for voluntary redundancy, all of which have been discussed in detail with relevant line managers. Formal offers are being made in 70 cases with most people having received or about to receive decisions; a small number are still being considered.
When I last wrote to you workstream leads had opened discussions with a wide range of colleagues to look in detail at the many processes and related practices that will have to be carried out in future by the new central support services.
Last week the key workstream leads for Finance; HR; Marketing, Communication and Engagement; and Technical Support shared with one another the first draft organisation design structures for these areas. This was just a first draft and there is more work to do before we can share information about how the new central services will be organised and give timelines for moving to new structures. More information will be made available in due course. The work to date has been fully informed by the large number of colleagues who have participated in workshops across the various workstreams, and I am very grateful for their contribution.
We also received an update last week from the General Administration workshops, and heard preliminary thoughts on how the activities broadly defined as Teaching & Learning Support may be delivered in the future. Further development in respect of Teaching & Learning Support and General Administration will continue over coming weeks, bringing other key colleagues into the discussion.
I hope you have a pleasant break over the Easter weekend.
John Brady
