Get Ready for Mental Health Awareness Week 2015

Thursday, 07 May 2015

time to change logo

Next week is Mental Health Awareness Week 2015 which raises awareness of mental health and well-being issues.

At any one time, 1 in 4 of us suffer from a mental health issue: it is important to know more about mental issues and what we can do about it, for ourselves and for others, whether they're ourstudents or our colleagues.

Earlier this year, our Vice-Chancellor, Sir David Bell KBE together with Tilley Corless, Welfare officer, RUSU, signed the Time to change pledge to challenge mental health stigma and discrimination.

To demonstrate our commitment to mental health awareness week, next week we will be running a series of stories on the staff portal featuring what we do at the University of Reading to support mental health and well-being.

The focus for Mental Health Awareness Week 2015 is mindfulness, to shed some light on what mindfulness is, how it can be used and why it's beneficial.
