New employment policies for all staff and questions and answers sessions on academic contracts

In June we informed staff that the University Council and the Privy Council had approved the abolition of the University Statutes along with amendments to the Charter.
The employment provisions that were previously contained in Statute XXXIII are now set out in new employment policies which will apply to all staff and will cover:
- Employee Grievances
- Discipline and Dismissal
- Capability
- Poor Performance
- Redundancy and Restructure
We have consulted on the employment policies with UCU and the Staff Forum and they have been approved by the University Council. They will take effect as of 1 August in line with the introduction of new academic contracts; copies of the new policies can be found on the HR website.
The University Council approved the new contracts for academic staff at its meeting on 13 July and academic staff should expect to receive their new contract shortly, subject to the formal agreement of UCU.

There will be question and answer sessions with Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor, Robert Van De Noort and the Director of Human Resources, John Brady on the following dates in order to enable staff to raise issues or ask questions about the new contract of employment:
- Tuesday 21 July 2015 at 10am in Carrington 201, Whiteknights campus
- Wednesday 22 July 2015 at 2pm in Riverhouse 6 Syndicate Room, Greenlands campus
- Friday 24 July 2015 at 2pm in LO22 G06, London Road campus
If further sessions are required, they will be arranged for the Autumn term.
