Applications open for women's development programmes

As part of the University's commitment to supporting the career development of women, applications to the Springboard women's development programme and the Leadership Foundation's Aurora women's leadership development programme for 2015-16 are now open. 

Springboard

For the fourth year, the University will once again be running two cohorts of the incredibly popular Springboard programme, which enables women to take more control over their own lives and careers.

Springboard has been used by over 230,000 women in over 30 countries, and more than 150 women at the University, with participants describing it as having, "transformed my attitude and enabled me to make the most of my strengths and skills" and "a great opportunity to reflect on career aspirations and how to make them happen."

One of this year's delegates commented that

"the programme and coaching techniques translate into every area of your life...That's what's so brilliant about this programme, whatever it is you're finding challenging...Springboard can help. "

Other areas delegates found the programme had helped them included taking time to reflect; setting goals; stepping out of their comfort zone; making difficult choices; being more assertive and confident; and feeling more positive and in control.

Briefing sessions (with spaces for up to 30 women) will take place on Monday 14 September 2015 12:00-13:00 (now full) and on Thursday 24 September 14.30 - 15.30.  Please book via Employee Self Service.

Aurora

For the third year, the University will also be supporting 10 women to attend the Leadership Foundation's women's only leadership development programme: Aurora.

Aurora aims to encourage a wide range of women in academic and professional roles to think of themselves as leaders, to develop leadership skills, and to help universities maximize the potential of these women.

It is available for those in roles up to and including Associate Professor or Professional and Managerial Grade 8 and ideal for those who have some form of managerial experience who aspire to a leadership role in the future.
