University of Reading Malaysia welcomes first undergraduate students to new campus

Tuesday, 29 September 2015

UoRM welcome

'Seeing students arrive on campus and our staff begin teaching has made all the hard work worthwhile.' Professor Tony Downes, Provost

Today, the University of Reading Malaysia officially welcomed its new undergraduate students to the first ever Welcome Week at EduCity. As the campus is brand new, students are arriving at the same time as staff are moving in to their new home, which has created a great deal of buzz and excitement.

The Welcome Week programme includes:

  • A welcome speech by the Provost, Professor Tony Downes.
  • Tours of the new campus and its facilities.
  • A session on how to make the most of the brand new Learning and Resource Centre.
  • A sports afternoon at EduCity Sports Complex, hosted by students who have already been studying with us at our temporary teaching facilities.
  • Clubs and societies showcase by current students.
  • A session on UoRM values and behaviours.

This new student body of 150 will study Foundation in Business or Science or Undergraduate programmes in Business and Finance, Quantity Surveying, Real Estate or Psychology. Undergraduate programmes in Pharmacy and Law and a range of post graduate programmes, including the Henley MBA, are due to launch in 2016.

Professor Tony Downes said, "We have reached a major milestone in the university’s history. UoRM staff have been working round the clock to prepare for the students’ arrival and I am extremely proud of what we have achieved together.

"Seeing students arrive on campus and our staff begin teaching has made all the hard work worthwhile. I welcome everyone to our new campus and wish everyone success in their work and studies."
