'I found the Open Day a great experience and it is now my first choice on my UCAS application.'
On Saturday 3 October, the University welcomed around 4,400 visitors to the first of the two Open Days taking place this month. Early impressions indicate that the event was a great success, with over 98% of visitors responding to our feedback survey rating the day as either good or excellent.
The Dome at Whiteknights campus played a crucial part in setting the tone of the day, serving as a central hub for visitors to come and get a sense of student life and the courses on offer. From here, guests were invited to take part in campus tours, department presentations and discussions on topics such as admissions, finance and language training services.
Although the event was well attended, overall visitor attendance was slightly lower than the equivalent Open Day in 2014. However, this is believed to have been partially caused by significant disruptions to travel across the M4 on Saturday.
The inspiring pieces of feedback received draw attention to the outstanding efforts made by the staff and students in ensuring that visitors were left with the best possible impression of the University. Repeated praise was given for the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff and student guides, and several prospective applicants commented that Reading was their first university choice following their Open Day experiences.
