Apply for the StellarHE national development programme today

StellarHE applications now open

Applications are now open for two University-sponsored places on this year’s StellarHE national development programme. The programme is specifically aimed at Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) staff aspiring to reach a strategic role within the Higher Education sector.

To qualify, applicants must have demonstrable experience in management/supervisory duties including management/development of staff, project leadership, and a proactive commitment to personal and professional development. Full details are available in the application form and programme brochure.

The training programme is recognised by the Institute of Leadership and Management and is supported by HEFCE and is suitable for professional support staff, academics and researchers at middle to senior management level. Applicants must be able to attend all sessions outlined below in order to qualify. Please note that some dates are residential, and additional costs not included in the programme (such as travel) will need to be paid for by the applicant’s Head of School or Function.

Completed application forms should be sent to s.e.thornton@reading.ac.uk by 5p.m. on Monday 2nd November 2015 for consideration by the panel. Candidates will be notified of the outcome of their application by 12th November 2015.

  • 16 Nov 2015: Welcome pack and confirmation of enrolment
  • 3 Dec 2015: Participant Orientation day – 11.00am to 5.30pm, University College London
  • 8 Dec 2015: Manager Briefing Session – Teleconference
  • Jan – Feb 2016: Complete Leadership Diagnostics and Coaching Session 1
  • 12 & 13 Jan 2016: StellarHE R1 – Factor8™ Authentic Leadership (2 day Residential- Ashorne Hill, Leamington Spa, CV33 9QW)
  • February 2016: Action Learning Session 1
  • 23 & 24 Feb 2016: StellarHE R2 – 360 Inclusive leadership (2 day Residential - Ashorne Hill, Leamington Spa, CV33 9QW)
  • Mar – May 2016: Work on Leadership Challenge Projects
  • April 2016: Coaching Session 2 & Action Learning Session 2
  • 10 & 11 May 2016: Stellar M3 – Beyond StellarHE, Creating Legacy (2 day non-residential–Liverpool John Moore’s University)
