Reading has strengthened its reputation as one of the leading institutions in the world for life sciences. The Faculty was ranked 67th in the world by Times Higher Education World University rankings, putting us in the 11th place in the UK, our best ranking so far.

Professor Richard Ellis, Dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences, said: "This is a proud moment for the Faculty. The ranking recognises the hard work and expertise of our staff and students which enables us to provide world-class teaching and learning, as well as conduct cutting-edge research. It is an outstanding achievement which reinforces the Faculty’s position as a leader on the international stage.”

Life Sciences has been steadily improving its position over the years. In 2014, it was ranked 85th in the world and last year it moved up four places to 81st.

The Life Sciences ranking assesses the top 100 universities in the world in this field. They are analysed across 13 performance indicators in a wide range of activity, encompassing teaching, research quality and the international influence of research, international outlook and industry income.
