Reading and the Middle-East crisis; what we are doing

Wednesday, 25 November 2015

'Saving knowledge, saving lives' lecture, 26 November 2015

The human cost of the current humanitarian crisis in the Middle East is unimaginable.

However, it is not only the human cost, the academic loss to countries like Syria and Iraq are also ruinous. When academics are killed or forced to leave their countries, intellectual capital and learning are lost, crippling the country’s ability to rebuild itself; impacting future generations and the world at large.

Join us on Thursday for this very special guest lecture Saving knowledge, saving lives: engaging with the Middle Eastern refugee crisis to hear about how the University of Reading have partnered with the Council for At-Risk Academics (CARA) to help academics in just some of these war-town regions, offering an escape from the threat presented by these regimes and extremists.

Saving knowledge, saving lives: engaging with the Middle Eastern refugee crisis

Thursday 26 November, 1pm – 2pm
