Reminder: Vote for Archaeology colleagues in the Current Archaeology Awards 2016
Thursday, 04 February 2016
There is still time to show your support for our Archaeology colleagues in this year’s Current Archaeology Awards.
Current Archaeology magazine has nominated Professor Roberta Gilchrist as ‘Archaeologist of the Year’ in their annual awards. As a pioneer of social approaches to medieval archaeology, Roberta has published many influential studies on medieval nunneries, hospitals, castles, and burials. Her recent research on Glastonbury Abbey has attracted widespread attention in both the national press and academic communities.
Dr Hella Eckardt’s latest book, Objects and Identities: Roman Britain in the North-Western Provinces, has earned her a nomination for ‘Book of the Year’. The book presents a series of compelling case studies in which artefacts help reveal their owner’s values and aspirations. The book recently won the Faculty of Science prize for best research output (2014-15).
Winners of each award are determined entirely by public vote, which is why your support will really count. Click here to cast your vote.
Voting closes 8 February 2016, and the winners will be announced at the upcoming awards ceremony on 26 February at Current Archaeology Live! 2016.
