NUS blackout returns for Green Week on Friday 12 February

On Friday 12 February the NUS Blackout returns to the University of Reading as part of Green Week.

The Blackout aims to raise awareness on the amount of energy wasted over weekend periods as a result of unused equipment being left on. From 6pm, teams of staff and students will be dispatched across the Whiteknights campus in search of equipment to turn off.

In order to avoid any disruption, staff are reminded to clearly identify any equipment that should not be disturbed or switched off during the exercise.

The Blackout sessions are popular amongst staff and students alike as they offer an informal opportunity to interact with the campus in a way that really highlights the importance of saving energy. Over 120 people took part in the previous Blackout last October- highlights of the evening can be viewed here.

As an extra incentive, there will also be hoodies to give away and free pizza to keep everyone going! To see what’s planned for this year and to sign up for Friday’s session, please visit www.carboncountdown.net/blackout.
