90th Anniversary: registration and ballot entry still open for our special celebrations!
Thursday, 11 February 2016
With our 90th Anniversary on the horizon, we wanted to remind you that registration is still open for the special lunchtime events and Court ballot entry.
Lunchtime celebrations
On Thursday 17 March, all staff and students are invited to join us for cake and refreshments in the Palmer Quad between 1pm and 2pm.
Staff and students looking to attend these celebrations can register their interest on the event’s official Facebook page. No need to panic if you’re not on Facebook- we’re using Facebook to simply get an overview of how many people are likely to attend, so rest assured that you are still welcome to join us without registering on Facebook first!
If you will require transport from our London Road or Greenlands campus please complete the online form in advance. Travel arrangements must be confirmed by Wednesday 17 February.
World Record Attempt
During our lunchtime celebration we will be making an official world record attempt for the 'greatest simultaneous chair lift', inspired by an iconic photo of our first Vice-Chancellor.
We need your help to set the record! In groups of three, we need staff and students to simultaneously perform a 'four-hand seat carry'. Unlike the general lunchtime celebrations you do need to register for this in advance- registration can be completed at our 90th anniversary website. Registration for the record attempt closes Thursday 10 March.
University Court Meeting
In the evening of Thursday 17 March, a special University Court session will be held in celebration of our rich history, and will provide a perfect opportunity to showcase our achievements and our vision for the future.
Court meetings are traditionally attended by members of the University Council, Senate and invited individuals, but as this is a special occasion, the invitation is extended to University staff, students and alumni. Places are being allocated by a ballot system. To enter, please complete the online form on our 90th Anniversary website. Ballot entry closes on Wednesday 17 February.
