Additional remote access functionality aims to roll out after Easter
Thursday, 10 March 2016
IT recently began working on the second phase of their Remote Access project, which will provide University staff with secure access to core IT systems remotely, creating a more flexible and responsive working environment with access to a wider range of systems.
The first phase of the project provided off-campus access to the HR Employee Self-Service (ESS) system, which now enables staff to access the system remotely. Staff are now able to manage their personal details, book training courses and submit absence requests from any location.
This second phase will introduce a new VPN portal that will provide access to core systems and will utilise a mobile phone app to provide additional authentication, with the aim being to eventually use this method to replace the existing University VPN system. IT are looking to examine compatibility with Agresso, SITS and Trent during this phase, with potential to support other IT systems in future.
IT are aiming to offer the new service after Easter, following a final round of user testing. When the service is ready to be rolled out, IT will communicate with staff and will provide instructions on how to set everything up. Instructions and user guides will also be made available through the IT website. Please click here for further information.
