90th anniversary: become a record breaker on Thursday 17 March
Thursday, 10 March 2016
Next Thursday, the University of Reading will turn 90. As part of our special lunchtime celebrations, we will attempt to break a Guinness World Record in memory of the moment news of our Royal Charter reached our first Vice-Chancellor.
In the presence of the Guinness World Record team, we are looking to break the world record for the ‘most simultaneous human cradle lifts’. In groups of three, staff and students will simultaneously perform a 'four-hand seat carry' – you can find out more in the short video here.
We need as many of you as possible to come along and give it a go! To sign up, head over to our 90th anniversary website and complete the short online form. You cans sign up either as a group of three or as an individual.
You must be free from 12.30pm until 2.00pm on the day (Thursday 17 March). The world record attempt will be taking place at the Palmer Quad, but we do have a contingency plan if we need to move indoors as a result of bad weather- any changes of plan will be communicated as early as possible.
By taking part, you will also become a part of our University history- details of all those who take part will be recorded in the University archives, and everyone will receive a memento to take away with them on the day.
Visit our 90th anniversary website for further information on our anniversary celebrations.
