The first, second and fourth floors of the Food and Nutritional Science building will be open as usual on Monday morning.

This follows the successful cleaning of a chemical spill that occurred in a laboratory on the third floor on Friday.

The University’s Health and Safety Services Director, Moira Simpson, said: “The affected area has been cleaned up and we expect the third floor to be open as well – subject to a re-assessment in the morning”.

The chemical spill took place on Friday afternoon. Staff and students were initially evacuated to the first and second floors, before a decision was taken to evacuate the building.

No one was injured during the incident.
