PhD Plus programme launches

The University has launched PhD Plus, a new programme specially designed to meet the needs of overseas lecturers studying for a PhD. The programme helps to develop teaching skills and boost knowledge of Higher Education in the UK.

The programme is offered to overseas PhD students for no extra cost. Students can choose one of the two following routes for additional support:

  • The delivery of three or more teaching sessions, with peer review and feedback.

or

  • Participation in a bespoke Academic Monitoring scheme, in which students shadow a senior member of teaching staff for one term. At the end of the term, participants come together to deliver practice teaching sessions, with feedback from programme mentors.

Further benefits of the programme include the provision of additional training sessions specially created for overseas lecturers, opportunities to participate in seminars on UK Higher Education, and a guaranteed place on our Preparing to Teach programme.

Students that complete our PhD Plus Programme will also become eligible to apply for a two-year Postdoctoral Visiting Fellowship at the University of Reading following successful completion of their PhD programme.

For more information, including details of how to apply, please visit the PhD Plus page.
