Come and see the Davis Cup trophy on Friday 27 May
Friday, 20 May 2016
The Davis Cup trophy will be paying a visit to the University’s SportsPark on Friday 27 May from 11.00am – 12.30pm.
The occasion forms part of the Davis Cup Trophy Tour, a special celebration hosted by the Lawn Tennis Association to mark Team GB’s historic victory against Belgium in last year’s Davis Cup Final. After 79 years of defeat, Team GB finally took home the trophy after winning the prestigious tournament in 2015.
The Lawn Tennis Association is celebrating this momentous occasion by delivering the Davis Cup Trophy Tour across the country as a way of thanking the tennis community for their support. Along with thanking the players, coaches, venues and volunteers who supported the team, the tour aims to also inspire a new generation to pick up a racket and get involved in tennis.
The event is a wonderful opportunity for University staff, students and members of the local community to see the trophy and have their photo taken with it. In addition, there will also be a number of free tennis coaching sessions over the course of the morning.
There’s no need to book in advance- all you need to do is come over to our SportsPark between 11.00am – 12.30pm.
