Wednesday, 25 May 2016
The University is delighted to welcome Professor Susan Solomon, Ellen Swallow Professor of Atmospheric Chemistry & Climate Science at MIT, as the host of the Fourth Annual Distinguished Morley Seminar.
The seminar takes place today, Wednesday 25 May, at 2.00pm in the Madejski Theatre, Agriculture Building. Staff and students are invited to attend.
In ‘Meeting the Scientific and Policy Challenges of the Antarctic Ozone Hole: A Global Success Story’, Professor Solomon will explore how the discovery of the Antarctic ozone hole in 1985 has had a profound effect on environmental science, policy and public understanding. Professor Solomon will review the key aspects of the history of ozone science and will summarise how the roles of science, public engagement, international policy and technology has effectively phased out the production of ozone-depleting chemicals.
Further information on the seminar can be found over at the Mathematics and Statistics news page.
The annual Morley lecture is held in memory of Professor Edith Morley, the first female to be awarded the title of professor in a British university.
There is no need to book in advance, but please note that places will be given on a first-come, first-served basis.
