Celebrate arts and culture this month
Friday, 03 June 2016
This month our campuses come alive with the arts as we open our doors for a spectacular showcase of student talent.
Our musical weekend, Saturday 4 – Sunday 5 June features the Choral Gala on Saturday (an exciting joint concert with the University’s Chamber Choir, Chorus and Ensemble in Residence, and St John’s, New Town, Park Lane and St Mary & All Saints primary schools), and the second annual Big Band Big Lunch on Sunday.
The University’s Student Drama (RUDS) and Music (RUMS) societies present their annual summer productions. On Tuesday 7 June, enjoy a charity musical that’s produced, choreographed and rehearsed in just 24 hours by RUDS, and on Friday 10 June we present the RUMS Summer Concert, which will be held in the historic setting of Wantage Hall.
The final year Degree Shows open up this month, featuring Art on Friday 3 June (also part of the Whiteknights Studio Trail Saturday 11 – Sunday 12 June), Typography & Graphic Communication Tuesday 7 June, and the Institute of Education (part of the Reading Guild of Artists’ Summer Show Thursday 16– Tuesday 28 June).
While on the subject of art, The Museum of English Rural Life present an Introduction to the University’s Art Collections on Wednesday 8 June- a special overview of our art collections, including artworks kept in storage. Further collections events can be found here.
