Reminder: staff car parking limited during Open Days on 17 and 18 June
Wednesday, 15 June 2016
Staff are reminded that parking on Whiteknights campus is going to be extremely limited on Friday 17 and Saturday 18 June.
We are expecting a very high number of visitors for our summer Open Days, which means that priority will be given to Open Day visitors and members of staff directly supporting Open Day activities.
With more than 800 cars expected on each day, car parks 1A, 2, 7, 9 and 10 will be reserved for Open Day visitors.
Parking for all other University staff is going to be very limited as a result. We therefore ask staff based at Whiteknights campus who usually drive to review their working and travel arrangements for Friday 17 June, and, where appropriate, Saturday 18 June.
On Wednesday 8 June, Vice-Chancellor Sir David Bell provided an outline of alternative arrangements that can be put into place. The original story can found here.
The arrangements are summarised below:
Work from home
Staff who usually travel by car and are set up to work remotely can arrange to work from home as long as there are no meetings scheduled. Please talk to your managers to arrange this.
Travel by train with free bus ticket to Whiteknights campus
Staff who usually travel by train can still do so. As an extra incentive, we are offering all staff free return bus ticket from the station on the 21 and 21A services.
The buses will be operating a term-time timetable with buses every five to ten minutes. Tickets are available from Whiteknights House reception- just pop in and ask for your free return ticket.
Limited spaces available at halls
If driving is the only option and have to be on campus, limited parking for staff will be available in all our halls. Spaces will be available on a first-come first-served basis on both days.
Please arrange car shares with colleagues wherever possible.
Blue Badges
Spaces for disabled members of staff that hold blue badges will remain available as usual- we will ensure that parking spaces in the main campus car parks remain available to blue badge holders.
