New University Teaching Fellows announced

The Centre for Quality Support and Development (CQSD) is delighted to announce the winners of the University Teaching Fellowship (UTF) scheme for 2016/17.
The UTF is a prestigious and competitive award conferred on an individual who has demonstrated individual excellence and contributed to the development of teaching and learning within the University and beyond. The Fellowship is designed to support staff to further progress in this area.
Congratulations to the winners for 2016/17:
Dr Laura Bennett – School of Law
Dr Philippa Cranwell - School of Chemistry, Food & Pharmacy
Dr Andrew Charlton-Perez – School of Mathematical & Physical Sciences
Dr Rhianedd Smith – University Museums & Special Collections Services
Dr Rachel Pye - School of Psychology & Clinical Language Sciences
The awardees reacted to the news as follows:
Dr Laura Bennett: “As a teaching-focused academic, I feel delighted and honoured to be recognised as a University Teaching Fellow. I am looking forward to contributing to the Community of Practice and to learning from the excellent work of my fellow UTFs”.
Dr Philippa Cranwell: “I am absolutely delighted and a little shocked at being selected for a UTF. I very much look forward to using this as a platform to meet other like-minded people, to work with others across the university and to gather some ideas to take back to Chemistry”.
Dr Andrew Charlton-Perez: “I’m really pleased to have received this award because it recognises a number of the recent projects I’ve been involved in with colleagues in Meteorology and as part of the Curriculum Framework team in CQSD. I’m really excited about the opportunities to continue my own development and tackle other big and exciting projects that I hope the UTF will bring”.
Dr Rhianedd Smith: “It’s a great privilege to receive this award. I am part of a network of heritage professionals and academics from around the university who have been building an innovative collections-based learning programme over the last ten years. It’s wonderful to have this hard work recognised, and I look forward to working with the UTF community as we move ahead”
Dr Rachel Pye: “I’m delighted to be joining the UTF community of people passionate about the delivery of excellent teaching, to inspire and enable our students to learn effectively and with enthusiasm. I am honoured to be a recipient of this prestigious award, and look forward to sharing best practice and ideas from across the university”.
The winners’ achievements will be recognised formally at the Celebrating T&L Success event on Wednesday 21 September.
