The University is pleased to launch the new Personal Titles process and criteria for academic promotion to Associate Professor and Professor for 2016/2017.

After wide consultation with colleagues and UCU representatives over a number of months to develop and refine the new processes and criteria, the University Council agreed the proposals at its meeting on 11 July.

Whilst retaining a flexible career pathway for academic staff depending on contract type, the new criteria emphasise the importance of academic citizenship and leadership in all academic roles at Reading and include more clearly defined expectations in terms of evidence of contribution across all relevant aspects of the academic role.

Detailed guidance on the new processes and criteria and relevant forms can be found here on the HR webpages.  Please contact Richard Messer, Chief Strategy Officer and University Secretary, on r.j.messer@reading.ac.uk if you have any questions.
